My grandfather (PawPaw) lived at Southside Gardens for a couple of years after my grandmother (MawMaw) passed, until he passed. I was really worried about PawPaw because he was 10 years older than MawMaw becuase if I was him, I would be expecting to pass first, but that's not what happened. But I have to say, he was really happy at Southside Gardens for those couple of years. And it was a relief to see him so happy. I think that the two worst things single seniors face are (1) loneliness and (2) lack of a good meal. Southside has an in-house kitchen that makes (from scratch) lunch and dinner every day. Lunch is can be taken in the common dining area in more sociable atmosphere or delivered to their apartments. Dinner is delivered to their apartments. They have frequent social events like Poker Night and outings to the Gulf Coast casinos, and I am sure many other activities (but PawPaw always talked about those). To summarize, it is a great place for seniors. Honestly anyone. I am 35/single and wanted to move in for the meals and the free casino van, but they wouldn't let me.
