Very worthy charity. They serve/deliver about 50 hot lunch meals to area seniors. Great folks down there.

I think this place is a joke!!! My father is a disabled veteran and cannot get any help around here and I think it's absolutely ridiculous!!! Just a couple weeks ago I went to visit him and had to call 911 get him to the hospital. They said one of the things wrong with him was he was malnourished and so we called meals on wheels. They just called and told my dad he didn't qualify because he drove a vehicle!!! Are you serious!!!! He can barely get out of the house much less drive that vehicle!!! This area is corrupt. Noone wants to help anyone anymore it's all about what they can get out of something for themselves. People should be ashamed and I truly mean that!!! I will pray for the people that did him that way today!! Truly unbelievable!!!

I am leaving this review as a reply to Amanda Vance. I am a volunteer at Greenup Meals on Wheels and have recently been appointed to the board. I understand your frustration and am sorry you had such a negative experience. Our mission at Greenup MOW is to serve nutritious meals, free of charge, to any senior or disabled individual in our coverage area who is in need of the service. We are a volunteer organization relying on donations and receive no government subsidies. We have no restrictions regarding ability to drive. As a provider of food services we are required to comply with Health Department regulations, one of which limits our coverage to areas within 7 miles of our location in Greenup. There are at least 2 other MOWs in Greenup County. One based in South Shore and one at Bellefonte Hospital. As each organization is a separate entity, their regulations may vary from ours. Many of our clients have become affiliated with our organization through Social Workers during hospital discharge planning and sometimes even the Social Workers are confused by which group covers which area. I hope you will call the number above and let us help you sort this out, if your father is not in our area we can help get you connected with the right agency. We exist 'so no senior goes hungry'.
