The Retreat Apartments

The apartments are very nice and spacious.. We were looking for something affordable and spacious, we definitely got that and a lot more problems. To start I moved in and the apartment WAS NOT CLEANED, we are asked to go though the apartment after move in to go over things that were broken or things they may have overlooked during their inspection.. To say the least it was hell of a lot( NOTHING too major so I thought).! I turned my inspection papers in, and soon after I could hear dripping in my closet that holds the hot water heater and furnace. I went in my room closet only to discover that mold had set up in my room closet, and discovered the real reason for my breathing trouble( I have asthma, and this was during the summer). I called the office and to my surprise they came rather quickly which was good, well so I thought,. The maintenance men came in and did patch work. For starters they just drained the closet where the leak was and PAINTED over the mold.. I can till SMELL it, and SEE it.. I have an infant in this home and on top of mold we had the paint smell.! Ok, documented.. A few days later I call the leasing office to complain about my carpet not being cleaned when i moved in they said they would get back to me NEVER did.. I called a few more time and still NOTHING but the same ol' we'll get back to you.. Fast forward I spotted a COCKROACH.. To be honest I didn't trip because it was one but I know enough to know if you SPOT one there's more.. Over the last couple of months I have killed more than 30 of them. Please please please don't move in UNLESS you inspect the entire apartment and not a walk through with a promise to clean.! Nice apartments at reasonable price but be very weary getting into a lease with them. I HATE I signed a lease due to the fact I moving out of state and needed something quick..

I love this place! The property manager Karina is such a help with anything I could ever need! Ive been here for years and I couldnt be happier!

What I like about the apartments are the walk-in closets and the spacious bathrooms. The apartments have washer and dryer hookups which is plus. I stayed here for year and it was hell. I had difficulty finding parking space because tenants would have their guest over. My apartment had mold and a busted hot water heater which I had to continually call the Maintenance to fix. They never changed out the heating vents. I also had issues with my upstairs neighbors with the continuous banging and loud music all to which, I reported to Korina and Brooke and it wasnt addressed and it conditioned. When I did call I could barely reach anyone because theyre rarely in the office. How are you suppose to help the residents and youre not there? At one point trash was over flowed so much so that it started to pile up on the residents patios. Please, dont believe the pictures. Looks can be deceiving. I urge you to stop by and see for yourself. This is a ghetto place where I wouldnt want to raise my kids which is why I left as fast as I could. Had I known this ahead of time, I would have never signed my lease. Korina is so money hungry that she allows anyone to move in to this property. She allows low income families to live in private pay. Not to mention its a family of eight which is exceeds the approve occupants Which is allowed to have in the apartments. Its a against fire code however she doesnt care. When I moved in the The carpets were solid with piss from animals. In case you want a nice stroll around the property nine times out of ten youll be stepping in s*** from residents animals. She knows about all of these issues and all she does is send a useless letter to your home. She even had the audacity to type in a letter If anyone is caught not picking up after their pet its a $50 charge. Its also a $50 charge if you leave your trash by the garbage. The outside is poorly maintain. Which they expect maintenance to do which is not their job. I suggest to take these positive reviews with a grain of salt, she no doubt has asked the tenants to write a positive review for her. Come at your own risk!!!

Our apartment has black mold in it, causing both me and my mother to have breathing issues and it is now starting to affect my brother and boyfriend. I also happen to be 22 weeks pregnant. We have contacted the office about it and all they have done about it is paint over it. The issue has been painted over 2 times but only once since we have lived here. I have done my research and black mold can kill you with prolonged exposure. I highly do not recommend this place. Also they have been here twice harassing us about our rent. Even after eviction has been filed for because we refuse to pay over $1000 to have health issues.
