Simeon Square Retirement Community

I have served on the Board of Simeon Square for many years. We have encountered some people who were interested in moving in, but did not have up front money. We decided to offer various options for payment to better suit their situations. I can see myself living here in the future. Full disclosure, I am the pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, associated with Simeon Square. Nevertheless, I would fully recommend this place to my own family. It is a wonderful community. I teach a Bible class there on Tuesday nights and have several members who live there. They eat lunch together, play cards, and celebrate the holidays. Our little ones trick-or-treat there and our church goes caroling there for Christmas. The rooms are nice and very affordable. Sometimes people are confused with the different rates Simeon Square offers. But once you understand it, you will see how great of a deal it is. They have what is called a life lease, in which you pay up front for the room and that amount depreciates over a number of years. For example, you would pay $72,000 for a two bedroom apartment. If you had to move out after 20 years, you would still get back $20,000. There is an alternative plan for $57,600 for a 2 bedroom. This lease depreciates to $0 over 20 years. After you buy in there is only a monthly maintenance fee of $225. If you add it up, you are paying $442 a month for the first plan or $465 a month for the second plan for those 20 years, including the maintenance fee. Utilities are included in the cost, except electric. And remember they take care of all the maintenance, yard work, snow plowing, etc. Please compare the prices with other apartments and retirement communities.Come and talk with our manager and residents.
