River Glen

River Glen has been a caring home for my mother-in-law and my mom. The caregivers there are attuned to the individual needs of the residents and strive to bring them happiness.

I highly recommend River Glen of St. Charles; a warm and welcoming community with wonderful activities and personalized, individualized care for the residents. Amy Pedone is an absolute delight to work with; she is knowledgeable, professional, and takes a personal interest in the families she serves!

Excellent care for seniors with the friendliest, most helpful and reliable staff who are commited to keeping their residents safe and happy, and who go out of their way to keep in contact with families and friends.

Note: Writing a review is something that I dont often do; in fact, I cannot remember the last time or even if there was a last time. With that being said, writing a review is something to be taken seriously and the fact I have been inspired to write a review is special for me. Having my mother living at River Glen of St Charles has given me something worthy to write about. Walking through the front door of River Glen of St Charles feels like walking into someones house, a comfortable and friendly space that is a clean, warm environment. The dining room is comfortable with a flare of elegance which provides a perfect atmosphere for residents to enjoy delicious food that is selected by the resident and served to them at their table. The living space is nice but what makes the living arrangements a step above is the high level of care that is given from the very competent staff, the administration, caregivers, maintenance, housekeeping, dining, and everyone else that contributes to a residents care. The staff treat the residents as family and treats the residents family with respect. The staff communicates regularly and meets with you when necessary to discuss your loved ones care needs. Our mother lived in assisted living until she needed to transition to the memory care unit. It was a difficult emotional decision that was supported by the staff that helped us to make the transition in the most positive way. We knew our mother was well cared for and that is a tremendous comfort for us. Then Covid-19 presented the upmost challenge to all of us especially facilities like River Glen. No one knows for sure how you will react to a crisis such as Covid-19 but what we have experienced with River Glen is the staff has gone above and beyond to implement CDC practices and procedures for both the residents and the staff. Maintaining the residents health is surely most important but the staff also consistently uses creative ways to keep the residents happy, by providing activities, opportunities to exercise, and communicate with family via, phone, FaceTime and window visits. For family members, periodically emails are sent to keep families updated which allows transparency and gives us comfort knowing our families are being well taken care of. I would love to mention by name the staff that have been so helpful; but I would need to mention every single person who works there because at River Glen each position is a part of the whole team that provides excellent care and provides a healthy environment.

I highly recommend River Glen. It is a lovely facility. All of the staff are kind, caring and take the time to get to know the residents. My mom moved into assisted living when she was 90, but it was clear after a few months that she needed to move into the dementia unit. The staff was very helpful with that transition. They made sure that she got the PT that she needed. They facilitated doctor appointments and monitored her medications. When my mom needed to go to the hospital they made sure that happened and communicated well with me which was important since I live out of state. Jena the head nurse was especially helpful to me, calling me, and promptly answering emails, often late at night after her work hours. Jena always showed genuine care and concern for my mom, and for me. River Glen is like a family where residents and staff know each other, care about each other, get along with each other and have fun together. All assisted living facilities are expensive but River Glen was worth every penny that we paid. I am so happy that I found such a wonderful place for my mom.
