While looking for an independent living community for my dad, a friend told me about Independence Village in Naperville. My wife, my dad, and I watched the virtual tour, and decided to tour in person because my dad liked what he saw on the video. During the tour, my dad was even happier than we expected when he found out there is a poker club, wii bowling, and that he can control his own heat and air conditioning in his apartment. He also enjoyed one of his favorite meals, tilapia with beurre blanc sauce. My wife and I feel that he will receive exceptional care and attention from the staff, and that we won't have to worry anymore that he is lonely and not eating properly since my mom passed away. We are all happy that he will be moving into his 1 bedroom apartment at Independence Village soon.

Very poor management. Unreliable health care services. Bad food. Out-dated facility. Non-existent security (my parents have been robbed at least twice that we know of). I could go on and on. Dont go here.

Not good place for the elderly. Theft problems. Food is inconsistent and terrible. Management not good. Dont bring your loved ones here.

I have been a resident at Independence Village for over 2-1/2 years now. It is a fine place to live and I feel very safe here. When I moved in I was very sick and needed help with showers, laundry and getting to the dining room. I recieved daily assistance with going to meals, they did my laundry every week, and gave me showers twice a week. They also have a housekeeper come in every week to do cleaning (even the bathroom) and vacuuming. They sign for packages if I recieve any. There is a nurse on duty in case you don't feel well. I have trouble with Pancreatitis, and the nurse had come up to my apartment to see me just last week, and she felt I needed to go to the hospital, so she called 911 for me.Oh yes, we all do have our own private apartments, this is not set up like a hospital where you don't have any privacy. My apartment is my own cute little space where I have all the privacy I want. And that one-star review you see in here is a disgruntled former employee that left a few months ago. I would not have thought he was the type to pull a dirty little trick like that. You did notice he just gave a one-star review but he did not have any reasons to give, didn't you?Stop in and take a tour, we have activities going on much of the day. We have a big, beautiful lobby with couches, chairs and tables where many of the residents hang out all or part of the day. I like the library corner with the fireplace myself. There are also two inner courtyards with lots of flowers and trees if you like to sit outside and enjoy the breeze.Come and visit us and see for yourself how much you will like it.
