I'm hearing some pretty bad things from my parents who are residents at Glenwood/Mahomet. Under staffed, poor meals, residents moving out, and most troubling to hear - missed medications.

The Glenwood is understaffed. Many employees are expected to work double shifts-16hrs with no break. Free meals and drinks are offered but the kitchen is disgusting. McDonald's serves better food than the Glenwood. The building is not locked overnight and management does not care. Several residents have received the wrong medication, no medication, or an entire day's worth of medication at once. The morale at The Glenwood consists of drama because most staff is under the age of 21. Management does nothing to resolve matters that are brought to their attention. Several rooms remain empty and residents are consistently moving out. Not one cook or dietary aide in the building is certified in Food Handling. The Glenwood has had 6 administrators in less than 10 years. Many employees quit consistently due to working conditions and unfair treatment. Several residents need more care than what The Glenwood offers. However, they will not do what is best for the residents and recommended the nursing home because of the rent they would no longer be able to collect. The nurse at The Glenwood is often bothered by residents or staff concerns even though it is her job to solve these issues. Gait belts or back braces are not offered for staff. Several staff remove call lights from residents because they do not want to be bothered by them. Residents only receive basic cable with their hefty rent and most toilets have plumbing issues. The building smells of sewage due to a blockage that management will not pay to fix. Overall, The Glenwood is not a place I would recommend for your loved one. If you are an outsider looking in, I suggest you read all of the reviews for The Glenwood before making a life altering decision for your loved one.

This place has serious issues! The food workers do NOT follow sanitary guidelines, for example there are plates ready to have food served off of them sitting on the stove 24/7 while food is cooked right next to them. Workers do NOT wear gloves, nor do they wash their hands at the appropriate moments to prevent contamination. Extra food that does not get eaten is stored in the cooler while it is still hot causing condensation and bacteria to form. The walk in cooler itself is riddled with black and white mold on above and below every shelf and support. Standing water and moisture exemplifies this issue. Food is not properly marked to be disposed of in the correct time frames. Food sourced illness has been reported by both staff and residents.FIFO guidelines are not followed in dry storage. And the food is primarily over cooked, and undesirably prepared over all, in fact that's one of the biggest complaints.Administration is highly unprofessional, as well as the regular staff. The 'no lift policy' is insinuated as a policy, but not followed in the approval process nor in the daily/nightly routine. The staff are constantly gossiping about the residents, laughing and/or joking about their circumstances. In fact I was informed by one of the staff that assists residents, that the incorrect medication has been passed to multiple people, some more than once. They were laughing as they told me this. Residents have been informed that if they want more assistance that they need to pay more for their rent. Some calls go unanswered in the evening because the staff is aware of the needs of the residents, but are rightly under the impression that they can only assist with so much. Housekeeping floats around doing minor tasks while leaving major ones incomplete for weeks on end. Some apartments strongly resonate odor because of this. It's not the residents fault either. Housekeeping also floats to other work stations delegating, staring, and patronizing other employees. This is a big issue with a lot of the employees as well, as it keeps them from completing tasks in a timely manner. If you are hired on as maintenance, be aware that you are under contract and must tax your own pay, they do not inform you prior to starting. Just as well, you will be informed that your duties are to refurbish vacant apartments as well as stand in the lobby and appear to be busy waiting for problems to arise. They only give you 10 hours a week to work, and while you will be informed it's flexible, they will say that corporate wishes for you to work when they want. So in short, while minor issues will be handled accordingly, which are pretty rare you will have little time to complete the tasks that are major, just to maintain the image of a maintenance person just simply existing. Even if you know what majorly needs done, and how to do it, they are thoroughly unclear as to the tasks that are actually important. One important thing needs to be stated. They will throw around accusations to employees with little to no information. The administration in this facility do not actually give any sort of viable guidance to it's employees either. Are unprofessional, inconsiderate, and disrespectful. Communication is a real issue, while you are told one thing, the person sitting next to you might've been told something completely different, or weren't told anything at all. Because the administrator forgot, or didn't care to mention. They are there, only when they are required. While their employees are denied overtime, and denied help with residents requiring lifting, and denied important information as to the requirements of their positions from day one. They offer meals and drinks as a benefit of any position, but if you can't be sure if it'll make you sick? Most of the residents in this facility are paying three times the amount they should be.They deserve much better care, and much better food. More importantly they deserve more respect, better management of the facility in which they pay to call home. The other review shows the plates my review spoke on.
