Cedarhurst of Granite City

I want to express my dissatisfaction with this organization. I moved my mother here in early March 2020, then the COVID pandemic happened. She has been in lockdown and quarantine since March 13, 2020. We have had issues with the food delivery service. All residents have to eat in their rooms. The food is delivered in styrofoam containers, it arrives cold, mushy and not desirable to eat. I have talked with the executive director and the director of nursing. I have sent an email to the President of company, and the Regional Dinning Service Director and no response. I have asked they they rotate the delivery schedule of meals, so that as those who live in the back apartments are not always last. Yesterday the residents were informed that in 30 days they will be charges a 5.00 per day surcharge for personal protective equipment for the staff. How is this fair. We pay a large amount for rent to keep our loved ones safe and happy. Since COVID there has been no activities and I understand why but I am sure in the hefty rent payment there is a cost associated with this, do I see them offering to reduce the rent. I am an administrator for a medical practice, I am not making my patients pay a surcharge for the additional cost of PPE for my staff. If the PPE cost is for the resident, then the families should be allowed to supply this for them. There are other issues and I fully understand that COVID epidemic has not made this transition for her easy nor enjoyable. I am aggravated and the letter yesterday was just unacceptable and greedy to no end.

Cedarhurst formerly The Fountains was my grandparents choice for their assisted living. My father recently spent several years here. Thank you Cedarhurst for going the extra mile and keeping Dad safe and healthy!
