Highland Oaks is a wonderful place and far superior to any nursing home I have had contact with. It only has about 50 residents so it feels more like a home experience for your loved one. The staff and nurses go beyond expectations. One example is that, without being asked, they got a device and played classical music for my husband, which he likes, to comfort and calm him. Even though he was hard to understand, they always asked him if it was OK for them to do different things for him. They treated him with dignity. You probably wonder if I am affiliated with their church or am a friend with anyone who is connected to this nursing home. The answer is NO. I can't believe I was so fortunate to find it. I did not know that nursing homes can discriminate against acceptance because of certain illnesses that are more difficult and work to care for. Highland Oaks did not. I do think they are so loving and caring because they think that it is God's mission for them. I am so grateful that there are people in the world like them. During Covid19 they embraced the safety measures relentlessly. When I couldn't see my husband, they helped us face time willingly, even when they had to hold the device for my husband because he was unable. When you used the call button, they were there. When I was not allowed to see him because of Covid19, I knew he was safe and well taken care. There are so many great things that happened for Jim at Highland Oaks , but I will end here.
