I work as a dietary aide here been over a year. The kitchen staff wears gloves and hair nets as per health department policy. The residents are treated like family we talk with them and listen to their stories. No place is perfect but this place is good.

Both my parents resided at Eastland until their passing. I can't begin to adequately express my gratitude to both the owners and the staff for the excellent care they provided to them! Before Mom and Dad moved there, my sisters tasked me with checking out some other facilities that were considered premium. I encountered some that had opulent common areas, but what I found was that the apartments at Eastland were larger, cleaner and better appointed. It only got better when I discovered how much more affordable they were. It is an expansive, single story, QUIET (inside AND outside) place that is laid out thoughtfully, well kept, clean and very tastefully decorated. I don't know how old the facility is (I had passed it for several years on my daily commute), but it looks new! It has large grounds and nice landscaping. It is on a private drive, away from public traffic, that surrounds the facility and provides an excellent venue for walks.I just can't say enough about them. Definitely check them out.<<Please note that the previous 1 star rating was due solely to a prospective employee who didn't get a job because she was late to an interview. Heavy traffic southbound from Springfield to Auburn @ 10:00... ??? Really? How late would she be during truly peak travel times? There's got to be more to it than that. She actually spells 'stood' as 'stud' in another review... I'm grateful they didn't hire her.>>

This retirement community doesnt even deserve a star. Staff and management is unwelcomeing, disrespectful and discriminatory. They dont wear hairnets in the kitchen nor wash their hands and rarely wear gloves when feeding residents. They yell and boss around the residents almost as if they are animals rather than paying elderly adults. They are non expecting of religious beliefs and force staff to get unnecessary vaccinations that are not required to work in these conditions. The staff and management are all around rude, cruel and disgusting towards workers and residents. It makes me cringe that families leave their elderly relatives in the hands of horrible people like these. I pray for the residents that live here.

This retirement community is very unpleasant. I was scheduled for an interview there. Upon my arrival, I waited 40 minutes for the head of nursing. She was extremely rude and not polite. At the time I weighed 200 and was 53 in height. She told me, quote on quote, that I was too fat and unhealthy to work there. I had passed my physical with flying colors. As I walked out and thanked them anyway for the interview opportunity, she snarked at me. As I looked around, I started noticing how poorly they treat their residents. They were screaming at a resident who had walked out of his room, asking for a cup of ice water, and telling him to get back into his bedroom and that she did not care. Another poor aspect I saw was that the kitchen does not use gloves or hair nets when handling and serving food. Numerous residents find hair in their food. The head of dietary is EXTREMELY disrespectful, and actually had got my fianc fired for he said she said accusations that he was telling people that they are disrespectful to coworkers and staff. Which is very much true, anyway. She then cussed him out and told him he was fired, after being extremely polite. I have a recording of this conversation as well. To the families who leave their loved ones with these, awful, cruel, and trashy staff, god bless you.
