Don't forget to book online your parking slot. They open at 9:30, which means they literally open their doors at that time so doesn't worth arriving earlier.Shouldn't be skipped if you are on Kauai!

This place was amazingly beautiful and provided wonderful insights into the ecology of the island. You begin the tour at a recreation of what early native cultivation would have been like, with watered terraces and Polynesian crops set against beautiful mountains. Your tour continues up the valley into thicker vegetation and different epochs of plant life: from native to colonial plants, from endangered to invasive plants. It rains frequently here, so bring a rain jacket and a hat. It's still well worth the drive and suffering a little rain to get a better understanding of the plants on this island (which you will take notice of the rest of your trip). Parking is limited and you will have to make a reservation ahead of time to reserve a spot. Once you get there, spend at least an hour and a half if not more enjoying the garden and take lots of pictures. It's absolutely beautiful and a must-see for an island visit.
