The Watermark at Vistawilla

Making the move to assisted living can be difficult for the whole family. But I want to thank Watermark for making the experience easier and treating my grandmother with kindness and compassion, especially Michelle, Shelley, Jim and the whole nursing staff!

In choosing the best possible assisted living environment for my mother, she and I visited many facilities in this area of FL. Watermark was far superior from the first visit. It is a small community-like environment, and staff was welcoming each time. My mother has short term, age related, memory loss, however, is able to live on her own, with assistance. It is a very tough decision to help a family member make this decision, and well as carry it out. The Watermark staff were kind, understanding, and helpful beyond what I would have expected!Now that my mother is settled at Watermark, I only need to reach out by email, or phone, with any questions or concerns, she or I have. Response time is quick and comforting.I know my mother was not being as active as she could be before moving in, however, she has ventured out of her comfort zone, has had her local friends come visit, and her primary care doctor has commented about how much healthier she looks.This is all good news for her family, as she has anything she needs at her doorstep, is making new friends, is maintaining friendships she had before, and is getting out to participate in activities.Thank you, Watermark at Vistawilla!

My in-laws were to make the Watermark their permanent home. There were several staff that brought joy to their lives (all of which have left)Being in the health care field, I was constantly questioning the staff about their policies especially the nursing staff. A medication was on my father in law medication record but he hadnt taken the medication for several months but yet no one in the facility questioned it. The common response from the staff was I wasnt here. The facility policy is to weigh resident monthly. Eight months when I questioned my mother in law weight gain of 20 pounds found facility had not weighed here since being admitted. Any resident can walk outside of the facility after hours but will find they can not walk back in without staff member letting them back in. This is a great concern since there is no security at the desk and only 2 staff overnight. In the case of my father in law, he wandered out of the facility on the Seminole trail. Policy was not adhered to for bed check. The police department brought him back due to resident hearing noises on trail. No one in the facility contacted family of incident. Please do your research before selecting Watermark
