Somerby of Santa Rosa Beach

This is a first class facility for senior and memory care.

I travel to Panama City Beach occasionally to visit my mother who is staying at Somerby senior living facility. I found out that during the day they have 4 nurses taking care of the 100 plus residents which is excellent. Unfortunately, at night, the night shift nurse is handed all 4 keys from the nurses and has to give meds and check in on all 100 residents by herself. I felt with the lack of attention my mother was getting during the 8 hours at night was a risk to her life, so I removed her from Somerby.

Great people and staff, I would definitely recommend this place!

We had a lot of problems with my dad at Somerby. The facililty is beautiful and the aids and LPNs are nice. However, I was definitely not a fan of the head RN. I never felt she was very caring. When my dad moved in they said by law he could stay there the rest of his life...age in place. My dad has Parkinson and Dementia. He fell regularly the whole time he was there. When I first complained about the lack of support they told me to move him to memory care. They never had the level of support the head nurse told me they would have. After the hurricane they had a waiting list. I complained and they showed us the door. They all of a sudden said he needed a nursing home. We moved him back home and got him the care he needs. He hasn't fallen since he went home. They had a nice lady running the Memory care but I heard she is no longer there. Get them to put the care ratios in writing before you sign.

Two years ago I told my children that I was ready to move. Within five days they moved me to Somerby with my favorite things from my old home. I love my Somerby apartment. Its truly my home. But Somerby isnt just about the homes or things. Its more about feeling safe and loved. One young server gives me quick kiss on the back of my shoulder as she serves my food. All of the servers and the CNAs who look after us, answering our calls treat us like family. More love comes from the nurses and those sweet ones who wash our laundry and and clean our rooms. Im convinced that members of our staff and the ones who work at the front desk think of the residents as family. At Somerby of Santa Rosa Beach residents feel the love every day.
