I'm in the healthcare field...I get it, but don't promise something you cannot deliver. We placed my dad at Windermere In June and the very first weekend he got assaulted by his roommate. My dad is 88 his roommate is in his 60s! (See photos of assault attached). Beat him so bad he lost two teeth, kicked him in the chest, punched in the head.We were told the resident who assaulted my dad would be removed...he was not. His mother lives there and apparently it is okay for him to beat up an elderly man with dementia, and remain in the facility to assault again. When I went up there to speak to the administrator I was told she was busy and I would need to schedule an appointment to speak to her. Wow, such caring staff. Two weeks later my dad is sent to the hospital for swelling of his legs and ulcerations on his legs because his medication was not being administered according to the doctors in the ER. He was hospitalized for almost two weeks and his heart rate was so low they didn't expect him to pull through. We asked several times for a consult to get him wound care for his legs. Never happened. The PA was 'out sick' was the excuse they gave me...for the whole 3 weeks he was there? The floors in his room were greasy and I was told it's just from the window unit AC condensation. Not true. It was greasy/oily not water. My dad fell multiple times while there. This is any family's worst nightmare. So, needless to say after he was discharged we did not return to Windermere.

If I ever become a dementia patient, buy me a handgun with one bullet in it. The word's 'Memory Care' should give you a hint: Memory Care Less. Yup, sorry if you wet your bed, you will be sleeping in it. And, if you take some time or need help eating lunch, well - that's your problem, we are tossing that whether you've had two bites or less. You lost your memory, and to match up with that you are now in the Twilight Zone unless someone that knows you shows up and helps you...

I recently met with owner casie. During my interview i was very impressed with her. For the first time, i felt like i made the right choice to apply at a place that feels, thinks, and wants the very best for the residents. I even was getting prices for my parents, so i know where they would feel like home. It's not easy seeing a loved one in environment that your not used too. However, i can say if i would encourage my parents to make windermere their home then it's top notch! I'm not just saying this because i was hired, i am saying this because it felt like home to even me.
