Its hard to give a precise rating for MorningStar @ RidgeGate because our experience ranges from phenomenal to unbelievably poor. To make it fair, Ill rate each experience individually:Move-in: Excellent! Clear communication, attentive and thorough. Crystal, our move in coordinator, could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Concierge staff: Amazing! They are all friendly, helpful and kind. Caregivers and nursing staff: Phenomenal! Many of them have become a second family for us. Food/nutrition: Great food. The head chef is incredibly friendly and most of the servers know the residents by name. The planned activities are awesome, and the building is clean and well kept. Administration: Awful, and the executive director, Ronda, is the worst offender. I am blown away at how disrespectful, and utterly unprofessional she was with me this afternoon. I had two separate scheduled appointments for a care conference for my mom who needed significantly more help after surgery for a broken hip. I requested these meetings based off of the safety concerns that the rehabilitation center had for her. I was very worried about her safety. Both times, not one staff member showed up, nor did they contact me to let me know we would need to reschedule. I understand things happen, people get sick, ect...and a timely explanation would have been appreciated and well received. A few days after my moms return we had a planned palliative care meeting with a new doctor. During this planned appointment, I was told Ronda could meet with me. Unfortunately, the timing was not going to work as I am the POA for my mom, and leaving the meeting was not an option. I spoke with Ronda two hours later, just as our meeting was ending, and she proceeded to tell me I wasted two of her hours this afternoon, while she waited for me. (How dare I attend to my mom and HER needs, above Ronda). She never acknowledged my frustration, offered an explanation or apology, nor did she show any interest in hearing what I had to say.In my experience, strong leaders communicate in a way that makes the recipient feel heard and respected. My frustrations with the disorganization were met with a defensive, rude, arrogant attitude. It is very disheartening to see that kind of leadership in an environment where understanding and compassionate care for residents and their family members should be a top priority.I agree with the previous comment about needing a staff restructuring. It is confusing as to who is in charge of what, and when there is a communication breakdown the default is to blame family.

A great place with wonderful, dedicated staff who treats the residents like family.

My mom has been here over a year and they have been wonderful! There are activities all the time, exercise classes, etc to keep her healthy, active and involved. I know that when I can not be with her, she is in good hands!

Moving a senior whose been in her home 40 years is one of the most difficult life transitions, especially when she has been told she cannot return home after being hospitalized. But thankfully, after visiting several independent living settings, we found Morningstar at Ridgegate. The team of individuals from the Directors Marion and Dillon, the concierge team, the restaurant team led by Christy and Chef and the housekeeping team are the best of the best!! Worth every penny to see my mom smile for the first time since losing my dad two years ago-I owe that to Morningstar!!! And...The food is wonderful, the residents are welcoming and the programming is stellar. This is the way seniors should be treated. Thank you Ronda and the Morningstar at Ridgegate team
