My Mother has been at this facility for 5 months now. The food is rarely acceptable, the staff is competent and kind, but seem to be overworked, which causes them to be inconsistent and no amount of talking to upper management seems to make a difference. When I complain about the food, I'm told that my Mother should go to the monthly meetings. What? I'm complaining now. Listen now! The staff administers her medications and frequently get them wrong or give them to her at the wrong time. Our feeling is that we are paying over $5k a month for our cherished Mother to be in assisted living and the assistance is to spotty, the food consistently not good and the people that can make a difference, don't seem to care. Time to look at other options.

My dad was in Brookdale Lakewood, in the memory care bldg., for about 14 months. The CNAs, nurses, visiting doctors etc. were absolutely wonderful. My dad loved the food too! Their activities director, Hannah, was the reason we chose the place. There is a special place in Heaven for these CNAs, nurses, etc.! They are Saints. My dad passed away very recently, while in Brookdale Lakewood Hospice. The nurses, chaplain, and volunteers were absolutely wonderful to my dad. Thank you for making his last days comfortable and calm. Words truly don't seem like enough!

I used to work here. Call buttons did not work for some of the residents and if there was a problem, lead maintence would have thrown a tantrum if you asked them to do something. Old folks left in their diapers soiled for hours, Staff laughing at residents acting out due to their disabilities and illnesses..... Staff talking in a condescending manner to resident. I had reported twice to HR the horrendous treatment to no avail - He did absolutely nothing. I was called on radio to help residents who insisted on having me with them and I felt stretched thin constantly. Bad pay, bad workers, bad staff poor conditions - I only write this because I noticed my previous review was gone and theres a lot of 5 stars that do not represent this establishment in the slightest. Dont put your parents here if you love them.

Sadly disappointed to report the horrendous conduct of the executive director Akila Williams --of the Lakewood, Co Brookdale facility. The way she treated us when my mother and law returned back to brookdale from the hospital was completely unacceptableMs A. Williams has no place managing a facility for the elderly. Instead she needs to attend anger management workshops. No professionalism what so ever. All we were asking was that my mother in law's call button functioned-- so she could call for assistance to the restroom as needed. This was the very reason she needed assisted living- simply to have help when needed - a call bell that worked properly. Instead we were literally yelled at by their executive director Ms A. Williams. She told us that my mother in law had to wait till maintenance could arrive the next day to work on fixing her call bell- risking a devastating fall overnight and increasing her anxiety of not getting help when needed. Not ok! All the first night after returning to brookdale with a new cancer diagnosis. There could have been alternatives sought to remedy the issue or even a kind sincere apology would have been acceptable. However, no - all their executive director- Ms Williams -could do was yell at us n state family could spend the night with her to help out! Not the reason she is in assisted living - for family to stay n help overnight! I really wish I could say that I'm exaggerating here but sadly I am not. The behavior of Ms Williams was clearly unacceptable. I am a registered nurse and do not recommend anyone placing a loved one in her care-- please look elsewhere!
