We've have two residents, Mother in Law, and Uncle in Law, at Brookdale Brighton, since February 2019. The entire Staff is Awesome, and although turnover happens we continue to see quality staffers. The facility is very clean and presentable at any time. Four Star Rating just leaving room for tomorrow. But truly we couldn't have a beter place for our Loved ones.

Short staffed, a management that does NOT care whether overnight employees sleep on the clock instead of providing protective oversight for the seniors, a penny-pinching management that will not allow employees to even drink orange juice, a horrible place to work = unhappy employees = unhappy elderly.

They are short staffed more often than not and their bus is broken down more often than not. The staffing is a health department issue and the bus is supposed to be available to take residents to doctor's appointments; however, my father has lived there for almost 2 years and the bus has only been able to take him to his appointments once because the bus is in the shop so often. They have high turnover rates, the cleaning of the apartments is terrible, and there have been several instances of negligence to other residents, not mine, that have been noticed not only by myself but other residents as well. My Dad never seems to get all of his laundry back either; however, I have not confirmed this so it's strictly 3rd party hearsay right now.We were also lied to about several things upon move in; such as, the bus being able to take residents to appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we were told they took credit cards for rent (my dad likes to earn rewards so he can travel) but they don't and they are not even looking at doing so in the future, we were also told that if a resident doesn't like what is being served for a meal they can order whatever they want and they will make it but this doesn't happen unless you want a p b & j sandwich instead of the main course or a hot dog, there has also been a rash of thefts over the past couple of years where things have been taken from residents' rooms, additionally there have been some seriously questionable people who have worked there (thankfully they no longer work there) but it makes one wonder how they hire people and what criteria they are looking for.Overall, I am not happy with this facility and if it wouldn't be so traumatic to my father, I would have moved him elsewhere at least 6 months ago.I do not recommend this facility. On a more positive note there are a few things that we do like such as, a CNA named Oomie (sp?) who is wonderful and takes terrific care of at least my dad, although I've seen her with other residents and she is definitely in the right field as she seems to enjoy her job. The food, according to my dad has gotten much better since they've hired the new cook. The food before apparently was bad which I can kind of corroborate as I'd eaten there several times until I decided that I couldn't do it anymore because the food was so bad.Maria, the activities lady is very sweet, helpful, kind, and from what I've seen likes what she is doing and attempts to do her best by the residents which is much appreciated. The last person is Leanne whom I don't know very well but from chatting with her a couple of times just briefly she also seems to be trying to do her best by the residents and treat them right! Her efforts are much appreciated, too.Despite the positive notes above I still do not recommend this facility.
