Unfortunately our family had a very negative experience with my Mom passing within 2 weeks of living at Juniper. She passed on May 3, 2019 and its taken 3 months of trying to get answers. First, we were told by Dr Solomon that my Mom did NOT need hospice care when I mentioned that Hospice had contacted me after she was discharged from the hospital. Turns out, she could have benefitted and perhaps prolonged her life! Secondly, she had a huge bump and black eye on her left side and NO ONE knew how that happened. She also had a horrible cough, pain in her chest and swollen feet and the same doctor would not request an X-ray until I insisted and sure enough, she had pneumonia!! As we all know, that is the beginning of the end for elderly folks. There were 2 nurses, Florence and Irene, who were kind and caring but the rest of the staff, especially the senior Nurse Lynn and the Executive Director Tom, did not seem to truly care about the welfare of my Mom. After she passed, I attempted to contact Tom to request the medical records and it took him 2 weeks to return my messages because he was on vacation. There was NO forwarding name or number to contact in his 2 week long absence. A nice gentleman from corporate Don then began calling me and we have attempted to find out what really happened to cause my mother to pass within 2 weeks. I am STILL waiting for the medical records and an EMAIL to contact the doctor since he NO longer works for Juniper!!! I have not heard from Don in weeks ... I decided that I need to write my experience so that NO one else has to go through this unfortunate and frustrating process. I would definitely NOT recommend this place - I have also left messages on the corporate website and no one has contacted me in the past 3 months. Very painful and frustrating experience! Thanks for reading. Patti

My 90 year old mother has been at Juniper for a little over a year. During that time we have come to consider the other residents and staff as family. We are extremely fortunate that our mother, although battling dementia, is capable of appreciating many of the opportunities that make Juniper unique, like main floor living, good food, friendly and overall capable staff, and generous walking and outdoor sitting areas. From her chair in her room, (which during covid 19 she is spending the majority of her time in, ) she can listen to music while looking out through a large window into an open grassy area. Covid 19 has revealed many of the shortcomings of our society, especially in the health care industry, but under Tom Hunters leadership Juniper has proven that it is true to its mission and uncompromising in its effort to keep residents and staff safe.

My wife has lived in the Juniper Village at Aurora community for nearly two years and I can easily say that she is at home there. The level of care, support, and love that she receives from each and every member of the staff is incredible. In addition, the food and activities (weekly barbeques in the summer, live entertainment and even a luau) are excellent. And from my own search for the right community for my wife, I know that Juniper Village's facility, especially its outdoor area for resident events and general exercise, is unique and provides something special.
