Mom, age 99 has been there for a year now an loves the place. So many activities, at least until COVID-19 hit. She is treated well by staff as are we when we used to visit. Mom asked me how long it will be before we can resume visiting and I told her that it would be some time yet. Her comment was, 'You know, I don't have a lot of time left!' Very sad and yes. we know.

My mother was forced to find a place to live when her home burned in the Paradise fire, and she lost everything. The staff at Summerfield made her feel very welcomed and she settled into her little apartment with a 'can do' attitude, and is enjoying her life there, and all the activities. That is, until this Covid virus intruded into all our lives. She has been very bored with lack of 'community' due to the virus, as I'm sure all the others feel, too. That is just a fact of life. The staff is taking very good care to keep everyone in the facility well and safe from outsiders, but it makes it very hard to not be able to just drop in and visit for a few minutes, help Mom with her bills, give her hugs, etc. If only I were able to have her at home during this time, at least we would be family together. We just do not have the space in our very small home. The only complaint Mom has is the food: too much starch: pasta, potatoes, etc. and not enough fresh veggies and fresh fruit. Plus she has gained weight! She complained to the doctor about her weight gain, and his response was 'well, you don't have to eat it all!'. smile. We are pleased with the care Mom is given and the love the aides show her. This is a good place to live.

My mom has lived at summerfield for 4 years. I have nothing but praise for everyone there! Im so grateful for the wonderful care she continues to receive. There are many activities and although my mom is shy & doesnt join in they always encourage her and agree to go with her to participate. Shes made friends and enjoys eating with them in the dining room. Theres always a theme based on the time of year and they go all out with decorations & music in the halls, movies & popcorn nights too. They invite the families in for events including big holiday luncheons, again with beautiful decor. My moms apartment is always clean & she has fresh clean sheets regularly. No doubt the staff is busy but they never seem rushed and take the time to chat with her and help her with anything she needs. I highly recommend summerfield assisted living to anyone looking for an assisted living community.

Summerfield is an awesome Senior Living Residence. My mother lived there three years prior to her passing. She loved it and the caregivers! Now my mother-in-law is residing there. She also likes living there. They all take such good care of her! Dont think you could find a better place!

My mom worked there for 2 years. They paid her minimum wage. The whole place is understaffed, under paid and over worked. There are 26 beds in memory care which is where all the dementia patients are and 26 on the independent living side. They only staff 2 care givers during the day and one at night and expect them to give everyone a shower and toilet them or change their soiled bedding once per hour, but will not hire enough people to make that happen. You can imagine the outcome. They also serve all the meals and clean the place. They will not allow their employees to sign in even one minute early so they can get a head start on their workload. They have 5 office staff and only two care givers and a med tech per side during the day and one caregiver all night. Can you guess what their goals are in owning this place? They don't care about the seniors. They just want to collect the money. My mom loved her job. She loved the residents there. She would get in trouble for spending time talking to the lonely residence who have no family or for doing extra little beauty treatments or try to move their bed near a window. She would come home just emotionally tortured from watching the neglect. The owners are to blame, not the staff. They are collecting $3k-$6k per head times 52 beds, you do the math and they only spend $30k/mo staffing the place. So that's 10 residents to find them and 42 residents they're pocketing the money from besides the mortgage and insurance and utilities. They can outfitted to hire another 6 care givers to properly take care of the residents, but they won't. They want that money. If your loved one lives there and you're not visiting them often, they are alone and emotionally jacked. I would NEVER put a loved one in that place. For that price, you can hire someone to come to the house and help you. Don't abandon your parents in that dump! And if they're already there, demand that they hire more people and stop over overworking their employees so your family can be properly taken care of. I'm glad my mom got out. The place she works at now is properly staffed and she doesn't come home crying over residents dying from falls or by being attacked from other residents because there's no bad tendon there and they are being properly cared for. Oh and at summerfield, the young staff always put whatever THEY want to watch on the TV instead of nature shows and stuff that made the residents happy. THAT needs to stop! It gets memory care adjusted and that's how fights break out and innocent seniors are killed by the combative ones. Do better summerfield!
