My grandmother says she is comfortable, which is obviously the most important thing. However, I am her only granchild trying to maintain a relationship with her, and the last three times I have called today, there is a different reason why I can't speak to her. The woman at the front desk on the first floor kepps saying that she called the third floor, where my grandmother is, but says that no one is picking up. She only spends a few seconds each time trying to get through to someone on the third floor, then says she can't do anything else. I hoped Sunrise would try a little harder to facilitate us having a conversation, as she doesn't have too many people trying to stay in touch.

I moved here in the summer 2018 a month ago and im leaving this fall 2018 September. Based on my doctors orders i needed 24 hr care and memory program activitties and decided on sunrise santa monica based on the location. To my great dissapointment the responsice time for 24hr care was an average of 15 min. Even if i had an emergency. The staff is doing their best but theres just not enough peoole to run this place the way it is advertised to be running. What a shame.

An absolutely HORRIBLE place. All your brand new belongings will disappear when you move in, including your hearing aids. If you have your loved ones bring you special diet items, the staff will distribute it among all the other residents until it is gone and wait until more is bought for YOU and do the same thing again and again. There is no resident confidentiality. If a stranger walks in off the street and says 'I'm here to see (your name)' and wants your medical information, they give all your information to ANYONE without ever asking you first, before giving out private information to anyone. THAT'S A HIPAA VIOLATION! There's a Federal law stating that CANNOT legally be done! The facility director is worthless when you ask him to see that his staff does specific things like not offering milk products when you are lactose intolerant or being able to move rooms when a different one becomes available. The ONLY thing he is good at is ARGUING! Not at all becoming nor very good customer relations. He needs to be fired. On the third floor, there is a resident that stalks others and knocks them down but the staff allows her to wander all over and into every other person's room and doesn't monitor her violent actions against others. My recommendation is for you to stay as far away from this place as you can.
