During visits to Silverado residents are spoken to poorly. Words like no/ I said so/ stop creating an instant power struggle, removing dignity from adults trying to cope with loss of independence. Doesnt matter to if this person was successful in caring for themselves until dementia. They are the child now. Management cares about the money from residents and the appearance of the facility. If they cared about their staff and treated them with high respect Im sure the fatigue would trickle down less onto the residents. I feel bad for the lower paid employees working here. The burn out is noticeable and void of any genuine happiness. Higher tier staff do a lot of visiting with each other and walking around the building to appear busy.

My parents have received loving attentive care at Silverado. They have been treated with respect. The administrators and nursing staff take our concerns into consideration. The caregivers do their best. There have been instances in which caregivers needed further training to deal with certain situations. When I've brought those instances up with administrative staff, they were addressed immediately. Caregivers have a tough job. Love is what they give, more than anything else. That, I'm thankful for.
