I am a retired faculty member from UCSF. My partner of 47 years fell, her dementia increased significantly and after hospitalization was place d in a skilled nursing facility where I had to pay additionally for 24 hr sitters for 20 days. There was no progress, no physical therapy, she lost over 59 Pounds, she was dirty and I feared would die. I found Providence place and within three days, she was clean, responsive and communicating. She was somewhat combative but the stall has worked with her so she is now much more content. I was so afraid they might not keep her but oh no they dont give up and the kindness to her and to me has turned this into a success story. If you want your loved one cared for it It would be hard for you to find a better place. I thank God, Catherine and the staff every day for their caring for my partner. Joanne Whitney, PhD., I am a retired faculty member from the University of California, San Francisco and have previously relayed how Providence Place saved my significant other when she was languishing in a poor memory care environment. Providence Place is remarkable in so many ways It tastefully furnished, always smells good, it has the kindest, most efficient caretakers, good food, lots of programs, consideration of families. But in this pandemic, it has risen above what is good care to being an exemplar of what a memory care unit should be. First, management stopped outside visiting even before the city required it. It contracted with an excellent urgent care company to have all clients, caregivers, and other personnel tested for Covid 19. Providence Place was concerned about clients but also staff and the families of the residents. Every day families receive either pictures or videos of their loved ones doing various activities such as eating, exercising, reading, watchingTV, etc. Families keep in touch with caregivers, management and their loved ones by telephone, texting and email. Doctors are able to do virtual visits with their patients. Not unimportantly, birthdays are celebrated in a big way with special foods, beautiful cakes and lovely decorations. I thank the Lord every day how lucky I am that my friend is under such dedicated and superb and loving care. Joanne Whitney PhD, PharmD

The caregivers are what make Providence special. Our family has peace of mind knowing our Mom is well cared for. We've recommended Providence to others and most recently another family recommended an out-of-state relative to join Providence. This speaks a lot about how we feel about Providence.

My mom suffered a mild stroke about a year ago. My brothers and I decided to bring her to Providence after a referral from my uncle. Catherine, the Wellness Director, Ann Marie, Caregiver on 1st floor and the entire staff have been so supportive and helpful during moms transition from home to assisted living. I never had to worry about the needs of my mom when on not there visiting. They offer a loving nurturing environment. Ann Marie is so passionate and caring about her job and the residence there. All meals are prepared fresh daily by Vicki, the resident cook, and so delicious, I can attest. Lana, the activities director, is full of energy and provides lots of interacting stimulation and music therapy for all parts of the body. Of course theres Catherine updating me on everything via text or email and arranging shuttles to and from medical appointments for my mom. She is very knowledgeable and quick to give advice and suggestions on medical issues that arise. Always thinking of the patient's well being. I would definitely recommend Providence Place to any senior or elderly person in need of care. The facility is always clean and well kept. Every patient is treated with love and respect. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated and family, relatives and friends are always welcome anytime.

This is an extraordinary facility. Like me, you may be researching places for your elderly parent, and you may be feeling torn and even traumatized because you've reached the place where you need to put a parent in an assisted living facility. This has been the case for me--I never thought I would be making this kind of decision. I moved my mother with great trepidation right before Covid19 struck the city. I was able to visit my mother in person long enough to watch her relax, as her physical needs were taken care of with great tenderness. I realized she had been afraid and tense from pain, uncertainty and her previous substandard care. Providence was quick to shut its doors to keep infection out of its facility--I can only imagine the stress of the caring staff who work there. And while I have not enjoyed been physically separated from my mother, I am confident that the swift action has kept her safe. I am still able to contact her--the staff encourages this. I cannot recommend his facility highly enough.

We could no longer provide the specialized care mom needed. My brother's neighbor referred us to Providence Place and it was perfect for Mom. Mom is more engaged now as activities led by Svetlana with the residents help with social, motor skills and physical movements. Providence Place is a comfortable place made to look like you're in someone's home. It does not have an institutional look or feel to it providing a warm and comfortable feeling for residents and families alike. The food is freshly made everyday and is well presented and is delicious! The staff really gets a chance to know each resident and are very kind, caring and provides each resident with the support and care needed each day and evening - making it less worrisome for us as a family near and far. What's most reassuring is that Providence Place is clean, well managed by Catherine and her staff who provides us with texts and photos daily/weekly so we know how Mom is doing. What is impressive is when there are health concerns, Catherine and her staff are vigilant and informs us immediately. We could not have found a better place for Mom.
