(Cont.) The Staff: The caregivers demonstrate compassion with everything they do. Whether it was transferring my dad from bed to wheelchair, grooming him, bathing him or taking him to the dining room for his meal. All the caregivers can cook and the best part is that they can accommodate each residents' schedule. This is that 'non-institutional' philosophy that allows for real-time changes. My dad slept until 11:00 on many days while other residents ate breakfast at 9:00. No problem, they made Dad breakfast at 11:00. And if he didn't want to eat lunch, no problem, they made him a fruit bowl, or a smoothie, or some other snack in the mid-afternoon if he needed something to hold him till dinner. Some days we'd tell them to hold Dad's breakfast as we wanted to take him out to celebrate a birthday or other occasion. Dad was up, dressed, shaved and in his wheelchair ready to go with a bag of extra supplies/clothing (in case of accidents). The caregivers got to know my dad really well. They knew what he liked, what annoyed him, what made him chuckle. They didn't just 'care for a patient.' They paid attention to my dad as a person and catered to his needs, and our family is forever grateful. One of the caregivers came to VDMV on his day off the day my dad passed. He wanted to be there. He wanted to see that we were okay. The facility: Very clean, bright, and a great air conditioner! Lots of reclining chairs in the living room for the residents and visitors. There are four bedrooms with two doubles and two singles for a maximum of six residents. This is a 'board and care' home rather than a 'skilled nursing facility' or an 'assisted living' facility. If you're not familiar, Google the difference. It is very roomy inside and everything is up to ADA codes so I always felt dad was safe there. That was the best part--knowing that he had loving, compassionate caregivers in a safe home.Overall, I could go on and on about the compassionate caregiving, the committed owners, the wonderful care my dad received and the wonderful care we received as a family, but I'll let the above suffice. We did get to know the families of several of the other residents and when we talked, we all agreed that our loved ones were in a special place. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Vista Del Mar Villas for anyone's family member needing a board and care type of home.

We submitted our Dad to Vista Del Mar Villas on 08/27/18 and we could not have been happier with the choice we made. My Dad recently had a stroke a month before and was paralyzed on the left side. He also had dementia over the last two years and was in need of full assistance. Christina, Derrick and the caregivers at the facility did an outstanding job giving my Dad the focused and detailed care he needed. They also provided my Dad with the highest standards of comfort and care and they did it with compassion and heart. The VDMV professional caregiver staff provided the full assistance my Dad needed 24/7. Which included all pured food and administering a thickening agent to my Dads liquids due to difficulty swallowing because of the stroke. The VDMV caregivers were so meticulously and detailed they supervised ever swallow my Dad made. They developed an individual care plan and made sure that my Dads specific needs were met at the VDMD facility. Christina and Derrick were great communicators and kept us updated every step of the way via phone calls and texts. They were great advocates for my Dads health and his overall well being was a priority for both of them. They also suggested Vitas hospice care with whom they work with within the VDMD facility. It was ordered just in time when my Dad needed it and they also took outstanding care of my Dad. If you need an assisted living facility for your loved ones, our family highly recommends Vista Del Mar Villas, you could not be in better hands. They will provide your family and loved ones with the highest standards in comfort and care and they do it with a compassion and heart

My Parents spent their last days being taken care of by the staff at Vista Del Mar Villas. Owners Christina and Derrick run this facility with professionalism and thoughtfulness towards its residents and family. The staff is very caring and knowledgeable taking vital sign information and administering prescribed medication per doctors' orders. The staff is on a rotation schedule so there was someone present 24 hrs to take care of my parents special needs. Suffering from Dementia Alzheimer's they were attended to with patience and understanding. I would recommend this facility as I got to know the staff on a first name basis; Irvin, Aura, Sarah, Maggie and Angie, they all wept when my parents passed. Good caregivers are hard to come by, I know, my Father was pulled out of an existing facility he was in and moved into Vista Del Mar. I can only hope I will be taken care of as well as my Mother and Father were in this facility.

Vista del Mar Villas has the personal touch of excellent management. The first day I met Derrick and Christina, I knew that my mother would be in the best place. Having the benefit of watchful and skilled eyes made all the difference during my mother's stay. Derrick and Christina are solution oriented, flexible and incredibly smart, decent people. That's a lot to say, but it's true and so appreciated. Each challenge was met with superb communications, solid decisions and optimal results.I trusted Derrick and Christina with my mother's life. They never let me or my mother down.
