After being extremely disappointed with management I made the decision to remove my grandmother from this facility. The front desk staff barely looks up when you arrive. My grandmother had a pendent service. We would test the pendent by pushing the button...no one would come to her assistance. I asked the front desk to look into it they never did. The facility tried to push my grandmother into memory care even after I had a Dr. verify she was capable of living in assisted living. Upon advising the facility I would be move her they made no attempt to keep us or ask us if they could do anything to help us. They simply said 'we wish her the best of luck'. After this the staff emailed me repetitively asking when her move date was, and continually asked her caregiver when she was moving. It takes time to find another facility, get movers, determine the best course of action to not disturb the resident and make the process as smooth as possible. This isn't the equivalent to moving your 18 year old into a dorm room. The carpets were disgusting!! They have the ability to clean them, and we had asked several times. No one ever did anything. I literally watched the 'cleaning crew' come in and sweep her wood entry and empty her trash. No vacuuming or wiping any counters. My grandmother had fallen on one occasion and after pushing her pendant and calling out not one single person came to her aid. Remember her pendant didn't work. Upon moving..... my grandmothers moving company left boxes at the front desk. This was after the person at the front desk advised him to do so and they would be taken care of. Well, the maintenance person threw them away!!! Upon calling Merrill Gardens they simply said they would try to find them and get back to me. They simply said they 'felt really bad' and they would reimburse us for the boxes. We should be thankful they 'felt really bad'. This put us behind by a day which is terrible for the elderly. The front desk would do nothing she asked and considered her 'a problem'. We are paying for assisted living you can assist her anytime! It was obvious these people didn't care. Calling the front desk and asking for anything made me feel like a burden as well. Anytime I asked them to check on her it just seemed like to big of a task by the tone in the voice on the other end of the phone. I also don't think management was aware I had talked to other staff and employees to get together my own interpretation of what was going on. And I was getting two difference stories.Honestly if you like being stressed out about your loved one and constantly calling and getting nothing you request then go ahead and move them here.
