Gridley Healthcare & Wellness Centre

One of my parents was in this facility following a hospital stay, to receive physical therapy. Do not know what the staff patient ratio is. When trying to find out specific info or needing assistance, was often referred to someone else, who I could not find, or was told they were not there. In visiting my father after a week he was admitted, he complained of a sore foot, which I take seriously, as he is diabetic. In taking off his blanket and sock I observed a hard dark scab, about the size of my thumbnail. When asking at the desk, what this was. They knew nothing about it. I then called my brother, who told me my father's podiatrist had taken a place off his foot a couple month's prior to his hospital stay, and this was a result of that. I then went back down to the nurses station, and was told they would make a note on his chart. I then asked if he could have something for the pain. They told me I could have to ask the med tech. After I finally found her, I asked her if there was something she could give my father for the pain. She said he had never indicated to her there was any pain. I asked her if she had ever asked. She said no. I then went back and gave my father some over the counter medication I had in my purse. At about midnight one night, they decided my father needed to go to the er, which is across the parking lot from this nursing home. I got there and they were just getting his information at the desk, before going into the er. He was in a wheel chair in his pj's with a blanket over him. After I stayed with him and he received treatment for high potassium and was ready to go back, approximately 2 hours later, someone came over to wheel him back to the home. In doing so they did not make sure his feet (barefooted) were on the wheelchair footrests. So....about half way across the parking lot, his feet started being drug over the asphalt, leaving new abrasions on his feet. I moved him to a different facility the next day. When a neighbor stopped that afternoon, she was told he had gone home. I don't know if it a lack of training, but please do not consider this place when looking rehab or a nursing facility for your loved one.

Best- the absolute best Skilled Nursing facility in the area. Glen the Administrator is warm and kind and really a great guy- this is a place that my folks would Love!
