Somerford Place of Encinitas

My mother is a resident of Somerford Place. She has been in other facilities and Somerford is by far the best place for a person with dementia/Alzheimers. Their program is engaging and stimulating; the residents are out of their room, participating, well fed and very well cared for. The design of the building, divided into four small (14 person) communities, allows for a non institutional feeling and does not overwhelm either residents or guests. There are nice, safe, enclosed patios for being outside to sit in the sun. The staff and management are not only competent and professional but also very kind and caring. Somerford Place is an excellent facility for Alzheimers patients and we are 100% satisfied with the care and services they are giving my mother.

My mother had been living with my brother, however, her dementia had progressed to where he could no longer manage her care in his home. We mistakenly moved her into an assisted living facility close to Somerford Place thinking it would give her a more normal experience, but it quickly became obvious that they were unable to give her the attention she needed. In realizing this, we took the time to look at many memory care facilities (including Board and Care homes) and, after visiting Somerford Place and speaking to a relative of a long-time Somerford resident, we decided to move her here. Since then, Ive had much contact with the office and care staff. Their Sales Director Carrie Compton performs her job like a Social Worker; what are the specifics of the situation and, with all things considered, what is the best solution at hand. She was conscientious, professional and gave me a very comprehensive tour. The entire staff is friendly, engaged and attentive. They are all personable, dedicated and welcoming to visitors. They were quick to learn my mothers idiosyncrasies and adapt to them. Their programs are enjoyable, upbeat and professional. My mother is happier and more relaxed because of how well she is being taken care of. In summary, I was nervous about moving her to a memory care facility as I imagined that it would be an environment that would be un-stimulating and sad. At Somerford Place, this couldnt be further from the truth. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

When looking for a Memory Community, Somerford Place is located close to freeway and hospitals serving Encinitas, CA area. Staff is professional and I have had the pleasure of working with them providing concierge ambulance transportation. Beautiful building and plenty of daily activities to keep the residents engaged. Families always welcome!

Somerford Place in Encinitas is by far the best Assisted Living place in North County San Diego. I have had experience with at least 3 residents in this Facility and visit another on a weekly basis.The first time I visited this Facility I was immediately impressed with the calm , friendly, and joyful demeanor of staff and residents......the tell tale sign of a quality living environment.Management and staff work closely with each resident and family in a team environment. No matter what the issue, it is resolved quickly and efficiently.Staff and caregivers have a compassionate and caring attitude and really bond with each resident in a fun and loving way. Caregivers are assigned to one of 4 small communities with dedicated staff in each. This way the staff really get to know each residents needs and ensure maximum quality of life for each.The quality of care far surpasses most other facilities in that residents are checked every half hour and staff ensures that each resident stays involved in activities as desired. They make sure to get each resident up each day to give them a sense of purpose and sense of accomplishment.The grounds are perfect with many outside seating areas to enjoy the perfect weather in Encinitas why at the same time allowing residents the freedom to live and enjoy their lives independently. The caregiver to resident ratio is the lowest I've seen. The Somerford lifestyle and quality of care truly stands out in North County and is top on my list of recommendations to family and friends.Check it out.............you won't be disappointed.
