My father has lived here for 10 years and I have heard him always complain about the poor treatment that he receives. He gets 'written up' for feeding the squirrels and the birds. He gets written up for leaving his apart mentioned doors open. He gets written up because his plants are against the building and had to dig up his rose bushes he had planted because he isn't allowed. My father recently had a stroke. The property staff was informed my father was under hospice while we, the family, made a decision in regards to his care. His card key to open the gate off Huntington Drive no longer opens the door. I told the office receptionist and was given all the excuses under the moon as to why it possibly doesn't work. 3months later, still no functioning key card. His medication is delivered and the apartment claims to have programmed my fathers landline to the intercom to be buzzed in but yet we have issues. Today my father fell out on the street. A passers-by saw my father on the floor, jumped the gate to help him up. 911 was called and I called the office to inquire where my father was since I couldn't reach his care provider. I was told they couldn't disclose information. When I called to log a formal complaint, I was told that is correct. They cannot disclose information and it's up to the office if they wish to call the family and let them know what happened. Srsly? Doesn't matter that they see me. That they see the family here daily watching my dad. That they know he's very ill and under hospice. This isn't assisted living or 24 hour care is what I was told. Regardless of how many times I reminded them this is SENIOR Living and family members do care to know about their family members, I was told it's not their policy. They give residents emergency buttons in case they fall, but no one here to answer that emergency call. How does that work? FYI, when I gave notice my father was moving, all I was reminded that is very important is to not pack up this item because it is very expensive. $600 dollars. And it would be horrible if we took it because it's very expensive. $600. (When you meet the receptionist she'll remind you of the cost.) The social worker believed that she had the authority to come into my fathers property and remove mail from the property. She would go through his mail and tell my fathers care provider what was for me, for him and throw away what she thought was junk mail. I'm pretty sure everyone knows this is a federal offense. When I logged a complaint I'm questioned as to how do I know....because everyone who enters my fathers property is family and no one would lie about taking mail that I had seen and stored for me to fill out at a later date. I called the social worker and left her a stern and mean voice-mail about going through people's personal property and the form that had gone missing reappeared. I don't complain unless there is a problem to question me about my concerns is disrespectful. To justify the ill manner treatment of the elderly. Especially a tenant who has rented since the property opened is beyond unacceptable. Other tenants complain too. About getting written up for dumb things such as placement of their bird cage and also feeding of the squirrels. If you're in your early senior years and full of life, also hate animals. Perfect place for you. If you have no family members who care to know if you fall or get hurt or end up the hospital this is the place for you. If you want to be reminded day in and day out what you can and cannot do, this is the place for you. If you wish to rent from a place you can't live in and feel comfortable. This property is perfect. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone or to anyone.
