Caring staff. Especially attractive to people who value an open environment with few locks. Good, Home-cooked food.

My father stayed at this place briefly. He had moderate dementia, which the staff were unable to manage. The facility is quite attractive. and homelike But, when staff were unable to manage my father's behavior, the owner Tyg, pressured my father's wife to remove him from the facility at once He nagged her relentlessly, failing to give the required notice, which I have learned is 30 days. We were unable to find a new place for dad to live in that time frame and she took him home. This had disastrous consequences which resulted in dad's hospitalization and significant deterioration of his health and abilities.

Highly recommend! I am a Registered Nurse working in Santa Cruz county for over 13 years and this is the FIRST place I always recommend. De Un Amor staff live up to their name. The staff will accommodate your needs. Tryg, the owner is on site and very open and approachable. The staff really do provide excellent care unlike some other profit driven facilities. The facility is kept very clean and the food is good.

We are so thankful to find De Un Amor. It was actually recommended to us by a previous care facility in the area that could no longer provide for my mom's needs as she is now 99. We have found the care to be a very warm home like atmoshpere with caring staff. It feels more like a family atmosphere than institutional. I can not say enough about Tryg, the owner, who is so kind and caring about his residents, always wanting them to be happy and feel special. He takes the time to speak with the people and always has kind words for the residents. He recently remodeled the facility which looks more like a large ranch style house in the country with a lovely family room for musicians to entertain and many, outside decks and patios for residents to sit outside. The property is gated in a lovely sunny country area adorned with many trees, including apple and apricot trees and a peaceful stream running by. They even have their own vegetable garden. My mom loves her room with a private deck to grow her flowers and tomato plant. The atmosphere is always very pleasant, the facility and residents very clean. I find they are very willing to accomodate any special needs or requests and most of all my mom seems very content there. I think it's very important in this last stage of life that the residents are surrounded with such beauty, peace and care to live out their days.
