My dad has been there for 6 years. For his entire stay no matter when we have come by morning, mid day or evening he has always been well cared for. The staff treats him and us with the most respect. I so appreciate the care you have given my father and my family. Every day I remember how grateful I am to you.

I am the school counselor at Eden Elementary in Pell City, AL. Our school is about a mile down the road from the Col. Howard State Veterans Home. We love to visit with our students for different events. The facility is always clean and very inviting. The staff is very kind and welcoming to our students and faculty. The residents love to see the children coming and we love to visit with the residents. They have amazing stories to tell and truly enjoy our visits! Our 1st graders go every year in February. The students perform patriotic songs, recite poems, etc. to entertain the veterans. They also deliver items they collect for the 100th Day of School. The kids favorite items to donate are the prizes used for Bingo and other games at the Home. The veterans receive small stuffed animals and other gifts & trinkets that they can give to their grandchildren when they visit. Our Jr. Beta Club has also visited to decorate a Christmas tree and sing carols for the residents & staff. It is a true blessing to have such an awesome facility in our school community.
