Oakland Place

If you want your loved one to live in a compassionate and caring place that truly feels like home, its Oakland Place! The owner and staff are genuine and loving people! We wish my step-grandmother could have been there longer but we feel so blessed that she was able to be there with Ms. Joyce, Joanne and all of the caregivers at Oakland Place! (There is a reason they have a waiting list to get in there....)

This place is wonderful. Family owned and you feel like family when you are there. So few people can understand the difficulty of dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's. The love and caring Oakland Place showed my mother was incredible. My sister and I were amazed by this place and the attention mom and others who are in their care received. I can't say enough good things about them.

It really bothers me to think that someone could possibly believe that we would ever tolerate anyone abusing one of our residents. The residents at our facility become a part of our family and we love our family and would never want anyone to do them any harm. I did investigate the accusations and sent the report to the Alabama Department of Public Health for review. I do have video surveillance in all of the common areas but not in bedrooms or bathrooms due to privacy of the resident. The person being accused in the review was never in his room more than 1 or 2 minutes and the another female staff member was either present or very close by. The resident who made the claim seemed to make claims against another staff member and I was on shift and training a new employee at the time and the alleged abuse could not have happened since I was the caregiver most of the night and in the presence of that said staff member the other times. There was no talking to the family nor did any of the ones accused of abuse be able to plead their case before someone took it upon their self to write a review. No weapon formed against us will prosper. It's in Gods hands exactly where it should be. I DO NOT consider this place for anyone.. not even my dog. If I could give zero stars I would. My sons great grandfather was treated so poorly. This place needs to be investigated AT NIGHT!!! Beaware of Daniel the night nurse. If you have a family member here I suggest you check on them at all times day and night. That's all I have to say for now.
